(1,177 posts)I just switched from Android to Apple about a month ago to buy the Apple Watch. Since my husband died I live alone and have little contact with other people. My leg was severely disabled in an accident twenty years ago and makes me subject to tripping easily. I use a walker at all times except in the tiny kitchen. The leg also limits my ability to get help if, f or example, I am away from home. The Apple Watch has fall detection, which, I guess I won't know how good it is until it happens. It has phone and text capibility, GPS, etc. so, presumably I will be able to get help any time I need it. And, of course, it tells time and gives the weather report. Also, EKG, heart rate but not blood oxygen because of some patent problem. The oxygen app is there, it just doesn't do anything. Time might tell if it was worth the extra expense. If I am lucky, I will never know. I love being able to answer my ringing arm and wrist read text and notification messages.
