19. I felt a certain weariness when I watched this

The internet had made honest conversation as one human being hard with this athletics style of go team politics where “your team” will attack you if you engage with the other side outside of specific modes (“God..what a nazi piece of shit!”) and the “other team” will take it as covert support of all kinds of essentially stupid things.

It is neither. It is that some of us are not made for the internet. I am online, but that was..had I known, I would have largely stayed offline. Not entirely. I do like DU and it would limit one’s perspective needlessly to have no internet at all (well this kind- strictly online and low tech, just text). But I unambiguously would have avoided everything I saw in the last 14.5 years as the net bled into real life.

I saw a fellow traveller of this young man’s type. Another young male, but nonwhite:
https://ottawacitizen.com/news/ottawa-man-ai-bot-maga

That angered me even more as one is a type of behavior kicking you out of various systems and affecting your income (that would be Mr. Davis), the other is the type of behavior making your life hell in your own spaces (thanks to rampant deregulation) after (that would be Mr.Singh).

In this overpopulated and competitive a world and as a best case mediocre worker, I took my lumps wrt the first. The second is a reason I am filing a serious complaint against my govt here in India and some complaints in the US later (from long back).

I am old enough to have a kid the age of these young men. And what I can say is this is a waste of their lives and everyone’s. They do not know any feminists I am pretty sure. I am a feminist in every material way. And yet I find a lot of what is billed as feminist annoying.
This piece kinda addresses it:

https://time.com/6190225/feminist-industrial-complex-roe-v-wade/

As for bots etc, if they are not regulated right now as this careening disaster comes to a head, I am pushing back even harder here in my country. So playing around with deregulated junk tech will not remain low risk.

The internet doesn’t represent reality. I tried to avoid filing complaints and pressing charges and stick with merely yelling and ignoring things as long as I could. I tried to warn these local creeps over and over. Because I am not a loose cannon or a careless and entitled person.

But there comes a tipping point whether it is fossil fuels and climate change or data as oil and malpractice, past which you cannot force humans anymore.

And these young men and their instigators here in India will pay heavily for this because it was unambiguously unpardonable behaviour.

So when you are in your twenties or thirties, don’t get swayed by someone who is just manipulating your emotions invoking some people (feminists, immigrants, leftists, liberals), who are not a monolith and whom you do not know.

I see this in the animal kingdom where male animals fight and injure each other to no end.

Where you have not done anything wrong in these areas like ai and data etc don’t repeat the mistakes of idiots who went before you whatever their crap deal was and get even by mimicking them. I think that all the time about girlbosses etc. What is so great about mimicking the types of men who subjugate while insisting that that is feminism.
Not everything a woman does that makes money for corporations is feminist.
I agreed with this:

https://www.salon.com/2023/10/15/beyond-the-rights-woke-slurs-what-would-a-progressive-us-military-really-look-like_partner/

I am all for working women, women in stem, absolutely do not think women need children etc. I would not compromise on that.
But I also don’t go around telling other peoole what to do except the lame, hard, dull boots on the ground way that requires democratic consensus.
A part of living in society is tolerance of people living in their own lanes.
An insidious lie of these societies run by special interests, billionaires, for profits etc is that many of us are encroaching into other people’s lanes deliberately

There is no predictable script in life. But while you have time left, don’t go the way of the worst people is what I think when I see anyone young going this way.

This is a stupid society.

I really liked something I saw from both Adam Becker and Peter Putnam. Becker quoted Orwell about the difficulty of having this very absolutist and certain worldview. And Putnam put it well:

Putnam knew his mother had destroyed his relationship with Wheeler and had prevented him from getting his work out into the world, but he never blamed her. He believed that her tactics, however much they hurt him, were the rules of behavior she needed to survive in a world dominated by men.

“It is especially hard for any woman to be herself,” he once wrote her, “and believe in herself as she is, surrounded as she is with these ridiculous man-made images of how she is supposed to feel and act.”

It’s easy to say why someone is wrong, Putnam said. The hard part is figuring out why they’re right. And everyone is right. Everyone has some central insight, hard won by the consistency-making mechanism of the brain, built of past experiences, cast as motor predictions, a pattern that repeats, sustains itself in the chaos. Our job is to pan for it like gold, sift it into our own nervous systems, reconcile the resulting contradiction, become something new.

“My life’s work, if there is a one-sentence formula for it, is trying to find some path of reconciliation with you,” Putnam wrote her.

My life’s work is not finding such a reconciliation with the kinds of men and people who have made my life a living hell for 14+ years. But it is discouraging to see more and more young people going this way for someone else’s profit, someone else’s war and making society worse constantly in the process.

I am wrapping something up and I have been writing extensively in various forums on DU.

But a big part of the problem is seeing a label and hating someone based on the predominant mode of discourse online which I dislike too. Which I think has made life worse for all the very groups of people it pits against each other.

I have no hope that this will do anything.
But one is obligated sometimes. These people who made my life hell will pay. They have to or I have no peace.

I want to live out my life quietly here in India, whether I visit some other parts of earth (only ones I have never been to before) or not. And I cannot have these nuisances here.

I am aborting these things here anyway. They are worthless.
