Yes it is a very remote country and yes it is mostly Buddhist and much of life revolves around religion.

The country also persecuted the Nepali minorities horribly, incarcerating them, stealing their homes, and driving them out of the country. Nepalis were originally brought to Bhutan by India to work on road projects etc. It's another immigration mess. There've been various amensties and expulsions etc.
