how to adequately monetize streaming content, that's on THEM.
But let's not kid ourselves. The real "financial decision" was that nepo baby Shari Redstone wanted the merger with Skydance to go through, because she would net approximately $500 Million. That's right, half a BILLION dollars. National Amusements/Paramount/CBS was in a debt crunch, so that was all cleared.
Now nepo baby David Ellison is in control of Skydance/Paramount.
