how much of an outlier this country is among other so-called “first world” nations in this respect, and the statistics bear that out. Frankly, I don’t know why anyone would take issue with that claim, let alone take offense to it. Granted, I have been fortunate enough to live in countries where basic scientific fact is not reduced to a matter of political debate, but ever since this country normalized anti-vaxxer ideology in the middle of a pandemic, it is true that you are now seeing similar movements elsewhere.

Obviously it’s not everyone in the entire country. That should go without saying. But it is more than enough.
