4. I still have a copy of that 1974 column where he eviscerated Frank Sinatra.

It had been reprinted in the San Francisco Chronicle. It was so vicious, so good, I had to save it.

Fifty-two years later, I can still remember entire lines from that column. My favorite line was this: "When you looked into the ol' blue eyes, you saw the River Stix."

Sinatra wasn't happy with Reed's barbs, but he survived.
