Trump's physical and mental decline are obvious. Trump himself has hinted at his own demise.

If Trump has received a fatal diagnosis-- or, if his backers, enablers, and handlers think that he is going to be removed -- they want to keep their RW voters and the MAGA agenda alive.

So, they denounce Trump as a MAGA traitor and position the fascist MAGA party as the true rescuers of America from "radical leftists."

This is how they try to overcome their lack of Trump's perverse charisma. Usually, when a cult leader dies, so does the cult. But his successors can claim that THEY are the true MAGAs so the cult should follow them and not dissolve.
