62. Our first year of college, my roomies and I used to buy dinner at the Divine Tracy on 36th Street

Yesterday

The place was weird and a little creepy. But the food was fresh and cheap, and that’s what mattered. It mattered more to my roomies, as they were both on full scholarship, but my food budget wasn’t such that I could laugh at saving a couple of dollars a day.

We used to call it “Daddy D’s” and I think their “restaurant,” if you can call it that, wasn’t open much longer. I doubt the building is still there. 36th and Anything that close to campus must have turned into prime real estate at some point.
