11. Seventy-five years ago local women - black and white

hand-picked those delicious blue crabs 🦀. I know this because my aunt was one of the crab-pickers. I was only 6 yrs old when she taught me the "right way" to do it and I've been picking them like that ever since, but I've never been as fast at it as she was.
Some summers when I've gone back to Maryland's Eastern Shore to visit family and friends, I would hear lots of complaints about the lack of enough workers from Mexico. I think I paid about $45 - $50 last year for a pound of crabmeat.
