We tried when we took the Presidency AND Senate (by a tie vote, with VP Harris breaking the tie) after the 2020 election, but did not have the 60 votes needed in the Senate to follow through (which is what the GOP's "problem" is with respect to the SAVE Act - not having the 60 votes).

These are the current bills Democrats have ready, to be updated, and voted on -

  • The For the People Act (closes many loopholes and protects voting rights for federal elections)

  • John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act (which would restore Sections 4 & 5 of the VRA that John Roberts tossed that mandated FEDERAL oversight over designated states when they try to make any changes in their voting rules)
