Yesterday

if you are a US citizen who is 22 years old, your mother who has lived here peacefully for 27 years — since before you were born, since she herself was a 15 year old girl — may get suddenly taken away from you and sent to another country that you may or may not have ever been to.

Being a US citizen affords you no consideration when it comes to keeping your PARENT around.
