9. If B-52s were in commercial service they would have been gone long ago

Most commercial planes are used every day, or at least somewhat frequently. Each take-off/landing cycle adds fatigue. And maybe more importantly. each pressurization cycle adds to the fatigue. In the B-52. only a small part of the plane is pressurized. The fuselage, per se, is not pressurized -- only the forward cabin.
