That is your payment for TSA services. That is the funding for the TSA that the government is unable to "find"
Not the busiest airport in the country - and ignoring the numerous passengers who will complete a return business flight I one day, an airport like JFK will generate about $786,000 dollars in TSA fees today.
TSA agents are paid $34 - 50,000 a year - which means that in a week, ticket sales for flights through JFK generate enough fees to pay 137 TSA agents for a year on mid-salaries on $40k
