I think Ted Cruz realizes that sending ICE to fill in TSA could be catastrophic for the GOP. The videos posted by protesters of ICE behavior was disastrous for the GOP, cratering their approval of immigration which had been a stronghold for them. And those videos were just a fraction of what ICE is doing. Airports have video from all angles, 24x7. Add to that videos taken from people’s phones and there is no way ICE can hide their behavior (or incompetence)

In addition, ICE is likely to try lord it over TSA agents, who are not only more qualified than ICE but aren’t getting paid while ICE is! I’m sure there are many TSA agents who aren’t fans of ICE to begin with.
