...was a distraction to convince Trump to bomb Iran while Israel masses troops and equipment on the southern Lebanese border prior to an invasion. Current reports have indicated Israeli tanks have fired on a UN outpost in the region.
Israels' ulterior motive is to take territory north of the Golan Heights, in Lebanon, and claim it as their own.*

*(It's an interesting take and I cannot verify it's veracity. It certainly makes sense on several levels.)
