That it has barely garnered a mention in US news is a symptom of how divorced US Catholicism has become from global Catholicism.

The New York Times, meanwhile is like "We have no idea why Spain recalled its ambassador from Israel..." Maybe because the IDF and Israeli state apparatus is less popular than foot fungus in Spain currently.
