"Everyone knows" = "I know" or "I am claiming"
"Not a lot of people know that" = "I just learned that"
"Nobody knows" = "I don't know" or "I am in denial about"

Any statement to police about Epstein a la "everyone knows" is first and foremost a confession of his personal knowledge, NOT as it superficially seems a statement about other people's knowledge.
