Fitzpatrick's district is SWING and has voted (D) for most of the presidential elections. He is there mainly due to family ties (his brother had the seat earlier, with a (D) (Patrick Murphy), who had won the seat during the 2006 (D) comeback (after 12 years out of the House majority) and was reelected in 2008 (being there in between Fitzpatricks), but he got wiped out with the teabagger 2010 avalanche.
