Many Vets aren't aware that there IS a difference -- or even that there is an option.
After their service, they start getting an avalanche of mail, offering to help them get disability benefits. These aren't letters from the VA; nor from Veteran Service Officers of the American Legion or the VFW. The letters are from companies that offer to help, but who don't divulge that they expect to be compensated for their efforts.
Of course, the law should be changed that protects these companies from punishment. But our military personnel should also be better prepared for civilian life before they receive their discharge papers!
