Her goal of democratic ends (getting Maduro out) doesn't justify the means trump used to murder by military bombing.
If Machado thinks trump wants to help end the Maduro regime so her beloved Venezuelans can have democracy, Machado is naive. At best.
Is she really that unaware of trump's designs to control Venezuela's two major oil beds?
Based on some of its past awards, the Nobel Committee again sent a political message.
Sure, democracies can and should be bastions of peace, but given America's own history of unjust peace (the latest e.g. being that the schizoid leadership claim that the very name Dept of War will prevent war, while sending any form of US military to occupy political opponents' cities and states-- THIS time) this country's no longer any example to other democracies.
That Machado would align herself with this particular leader is disappointing.
Of course I knew trump wouldn't win the prize; still, I'm surprised at how disappointed I feel overall, when the committee's official statement about why they awarded her the prize doesn't align with her political activity.
I'd have preferred the prize committee priortize those who've saved many lives and been most humanitarian in their work, like Sudan's Emergency Response Rooms, that provided critical humanitarian support with food, medical care, and help with evacuations in war-torn areas; or
like International Court of Justice (ICJ), or especially
Chef Jose Andrés.
Just my opinion.
