It is about removing anything that stops a wealthy fascist from being a wealthy fascist. Any aid or effort to equalize society removes their hold over the rest of us. They do not want that. Remember that. No one with money wants any of this to change. To change it is to remove that privilege.

They'd rather go out in a massive fireball and take everyone with them than give up a micro-ounce of position.
