In reply to the discussion: House passes bill requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections [View all]otchmoson
(291 posts)I've already jumped through hoops to get my Real ID . . . birth certificate, proof of residency (electric bill), drivers' license, social security, etc. I was younger, then, and I resent like hell having to jump through hoops AGAIN. My mobility is less . . . and my patience is certainly wearing thin. My voter registration and current driver's license should be enough! If they want me to locate my marriage certificate, my original s/s card, my "new" s/s card (from 60-years-ago marriage) to validate change in name, and my birth certificate, and present them in person to some to-be-named official--I want reimbursement for the time and expense involved. If these elected officials (who truly do have cushy jobs can) can run us ragged chasing every new rule change they impose, let the government pay for it.
