That was the whole point of REAL ID is that it involves proving your citizenship, and honestly at least here in AZ? It is MORE trouble to get than a passport. I forget offhand what the difference about it was cause it's been years but I did both a new (not a renewal) passport and REAL ID at the same time. Since that was done through the state though the state should be able to just say 'okay, you're good to go because we issued you REAL ID'. That is some BS if what you're saying is true.

EDIT: Actually I looked it up and I was wrong. Permanent Legal Residents can get REAL ID's but this doesn't confer voting rights. Just lets you get on planes (when/if that law is actually enforced) and enter certain federal buildings.
