I don't like speaking ill of the dead. After all, they are not here to defend themselves any longer. But this is what it's come to. It is the reality of the world we are living in right now, and none of this was OUR choosing.

There was a time not too long ago when, if someone passed that you didn't like or had issues with, etc., you just didn't say anything. Those times are over because there's so much anger and angst and hurt and strife right now that people have to let their feelings out. They are being honest. There is nothing in Fanone's statement that is false. He has a right to say what he said.

The real issue has become that anyone who stays silent is deemed to be complicit, and that sure doesn't work in these times either.

I'm sure I'm not explaining myself very well here, but I hope you can understand. I will not condemn anyone for speaking the truth and for saying what they feel they need to say. But I long for a time (again) when we don't feel like we absolutely HAVE to say something negative when someone dies. We may never see that again. I don't know...
