1. The English language has a huge, rich vocabulary, but I'm afraid it's run out of words

for Trump's appalling, mind-boggling excesses and transgressions. "Inappropriate" barely scratches the surface. Blowing your nose on your dinner napkin is inappropriate. Wearing flip-flops to a church funeral is inappropriate. Arranging for a display of ritual hand-to-hand combat by muscular, hairy men in tight shorts on the White House lawn is so far beyond inappropriate that inappropriate was left in the dust miles ago. It's weird in a way that leaves one speechless. It's orders of magnitude weirder than anything any previous president has ever done. Nixon used to get drunk and talk to the portraits of former presidents; that's weird but only the sort of weird one might expect of a stressed-out alcoholic facing impeachment. You could imagine someone doing something like that under the circumstances. But did anyone ever even imagine the possibility of this deranged spectacle, let alone assemble words to describe how beyond weird and bad it is?
