When my roommate left they were flying over Uganda when they (2 small planes) got a radio call to land at the airport. They were ordered out of the planes at gunpoint. They pretty much thought they were going to be executed. Instead the Ugandans rifled through their luggage and then detained them for an hour. Finally they were told to leave, so they had to fly to Nairobi in the dark.

In Africa you don't want to fly in the dark. They made it safely though.
