My mother, a Jewish Zionist who once was a Marine, was very upset. She 100% blamed Israel and from that day on I believe she was very suspicious of Israel.
She visited Israel in the 70's and loved her trip, but she always held them responsible for the Liberty and stopped her regular donations on June 8, 1967.

It was so long ago, but I think our TIME magazine had arrived in the mail Tuesday, cause I remember how happy mom was to see the cover. Then the next day the Liberty was hit.
