In reply to the discussion: Who Has Even Been to Maine? [View all]peggysue2
(12,641 posts)39. It is a beautiful state
My oldest son was married in Maine. Our family spent almost two weeks celebrating and exploring.
As for Mainers? The decision is theirs to make and if that independent streak holds, they'll vote for Platner. They've had his back despite all the noise and churn because thus far they've embraced the man as one of their own and believe him when he says the trust is mutual.
He's put in the work. He's criss-crossed the state to get his message of people power out there. Voters have responded to the call with enthusiasm, even love.
If this is a change election (which I think it is), then Platner with all his warts and history will win this thing.
We'll know the answer shortly.

The Platner Embroglio...it's almost like someone with a vested interest in a GOP victory gamed the whole thing out.

He is running 70-10, the only other serious contender ran out of money weeks ago

Let's hope that people are smart enough to push back on an obvious ratfucking campaign.

It would be one thing if you and your cohorts pushed positive stories about the candidate you prefer

When done against one of our own, sure. Plenty of people stuck their necks out to defend Swalwell and Cuomo...

York Beach was the place we went during summer vacations as a kid. My grandparents rented a cottage.

No! I'll have to check it out the next time I'm there. I haven't explored York at all beyond the beach.

My child went to U of Maine, Machias. So far north, you could go southwest to get to Canada

We love Maine! My son went to college at Bates, in Lewiston, so we went often during his four years there.

I know that. But, there has been a large influx of out of staters who have moved to Maine since Covid.

Been to Maine many many many times since I live in NE. Love the state. Can't wait for them to have a Dem Senator!
