I haven't, and I've been to 48 of our states. Maine is probably the hardest state in the country to get to while traveling around the country. I've been in Vermont, but just never managed to drive a little farther to the northeast to reach Maine.
And yet, it appears that it's a very important state indeed. At least this year. It's one of the states which has a Senate race that could mean the difference between Democrats regaining a majority and a continuation of the tiny majority held by the Repbublicans.
So, it's no wonder that the disrupters in this year's elections have picked Maine's Senate race as a target for their activity. They're doing a masterful job of throwing Maine's Senate primary into turmoil. Meanwhile, Susan Collins just keeps right on being Susan Collins, the Senator who always "considers" both sides, but always votes with the Republicans.
How will it end up. Not well, I'm thinking at this point. The disrupters on the right have the entire news media focused on Maine and its Senate primary next week. It's too late for recovery by a scandal-rocked Democratic candidate.
It's too fucking bad, I say!
