military advisers to Vietnam leaving a trojan horse to kneecap the Kennedy/Johnson administration. I think Johnson not seeking the parties nomination was more significant than Robert Kennedy. Johnson was a student of the deal and meet with Roosevelt many times Kennedy did as well. Johnson intended to finish the new deal. After he stepped down the Lincoln to Teddy Roosevelt to FDR pipeline was broken. Then there was Nixon/Ford and four years of Carter and when Carter lost in a landslide to Reagan Democrats panicked and starting moving way too centrist for along time.
