In Sikh culture, when the racists started attacking us because they thought we were Muslims, we didnâ€™t correct them and say we were Sikhs because the point is it shouldnâ€™t happen to anyone. As a cis woman, I do not correct someone attacking me because they think I am trans for the same reason.
