In reply to the discussion: Governor Newsom with the Troll of the Week !!! [View all]Martin Eden
(15,822 posts)Just one more enemy for Trump to trade insults with. Getting under his skin? I've lost count of the number of Liberal Youtuber threads about "meltdowns," which are the same kind of rants he's been doing for years. These trolling posts by Newsom won't move the needle on anything that really matters -- like moving the needle among independents, and even Republicans fed up with higher prices and getting tired of Trump's antics -- like his ALL CAPS self aggrandizing posts, among other things.
Engaging in those same antics may be some clever snark that provides some satisfaction, but it won't win any new votes to our side.
Strategic messaging has to be aimed, first and foremost, at winning elections. Taking back the House and Senate is the only thing that gains us real power.
As for messaging, tell the truth about Trumps lies, relentlessly. Attack, attack, attack, with the truth. Every time time a Democrat is asked about something he said, respond with "Let's remember that Donald Trump is a pathological liar with zero credibility."
Say it over and over again, until the endless repetition becomes a news story in itself. Back it up by citing anyvof his countless provable lies. He's given us plenty of ammunition.
Attack the BIG LIE, relentlessly. It's become a central tenet of the Republican Party to such an extent that no one in his administration and no Republican who wants to win a maga primary can openly state that Biden won the 2020 presidential election free and fair.
That BIG LIE is central to all the voter suppression laws being passed in red states; the so-called "SAVE America Act;" and schemes to deploy ICE at polling stations and sieze ballots under the guise of "election integrity."
This is some real serious shit that will determine whether our Constitutional democracy survives.
Newsom's Trump-style mockery on social media of a distraction in the existential fight we're in, to increase his popularity among Democratic voters in furtherance of his presidential ambitions.
