(15,814 posts)I like my governor better (Pritzger) but a lot can happen between now and 2028.
If it looks like the general election could be very close, my vote will go to the candidate who I deem most likely to beat the Republican.
That's what I did in 2020 with my primary vote for Joe Biden, breaking a vow I made in 2002 (the year I joined DU). I protested the war in Iraq before Dim Son Bush launched it. Heading into the Oct 2002 vote on the Iraq War Resolution, I was looking for strong Democratic leadership to oppose it. A little more than half the Dems in the House and Senate voted against it but several Senate leaders voted for it including John Kerry, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton. I vowed that no one who voted to give GW Bush authority to invade Iraq would ever get my vote in a Democratic primary. I held that vow for 18 years.
Newsom's ALL CAPS Trump trolling is a very minor issue by comparison.
