I don’t think that you have to be left of centre obviously. But I do think our present unbalanced and diseased society does have something to do with miscalculations and errors made such that were you to be able to compare an honest, well-intentioned, reasonably well informed but slightly right slanted worldview with a very reductive script to work with as opposed to a slightly left slanted script, the latter would weight and prioritize things better with overtime that resulting in the kind of drastic difference alluded to in your post sheshe2.
