(17,556 posts)My Irish ancestry were potato farmers and they sure produced a lot of Catholics that knew trump was garbage all along.
My Catholic grade school brought in Maryknoll sisters, teaching us about our obligations to the poor. I learned about liberation theology. I learned about the assassination of Archbishop Romero on altar. I learned about a former priest, calling attention to the School of the Americas. I learned about nuns who protest against the death penalty.
I learned that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle, and for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. I learned that we were all here to love God and love each other, and that all people are children of God, and therefore deserve to be treated as our brothers and sisters.
It isnt perfect, but I dont see any point in pushing people away based on their religion.
As far as I know, the only two Catholic presidents we ever had were both Democrats: JFK and Joe Biden.
So why in the world would we want people to think that theres something wrong with being a Democrat if youre a catholic or vice versa?
