because if he wants the Big Job, MAGA will have to accept him as Trump's successor. He doesn't dare oppose or even question Trump's positions on anything, even his own fancy new religion, as to which he has to insist that the Pope is wrong because if he doesn't, he will be tacitly admitting that Trump is wrong. And then Trump will cast him under one of his many buses. Trump can't fire him but he can humiliate him and make his ascension to the Throne of Orange impossible.
