it is hard to make a good case for human space travel vs robotics, especially with the rapid advances in robotics and AI we see today.

I found it more than passing strange when the chance of emigrating to Mars was offered to the public a few years ago. Even though it was an absurdity and possibly a scam, lot of folks signed up for it and I wonder if they realized just what they would have in store if that had actually happened.
