(11,019 posts)There's no doubt a lot of CYA happening with this. People who knew or at least suspected doing the, "Oh my stars and garters, what a totally surprising and unsuspected thing to have occurred!" It's in their interest to feign ignorance. And the higher up in the party they are, the greater their interest in plausible deniability.
It's like when Weinstein hit, and every actor in Hollywood who'd worked with him for years and years had no idea whatsoever that anything even slightly untoward was occurring. While television shows and comedians were cracking jokes about it years before he was finally brought down. No no, no one knew.
No one believes that.
I'm not a delegate, and I was getting the rumors back when he wanted to run for President. All kinds of people who've known him for years are coming out of the woodwork going, "Yeah, this all tracks."
I can believe your daughter might not have heard about it. Some people don't hear everything. But the higher up the pole one goes, the less I believe they were shocked - shocked! - by this news.
