Why Johnny’s Running. An old school Democrat, Johnny is fighting for the voice working families deserve — for people like his mom, and his fellow deputies on patrol, and their children too. He believes hard work should be rewarded, healthcare should be affordable, and safety should be everyone’s priority. And despite what Republicans promised, they’ve lied every step of the way.

Johnny is stepping up to fight for the working class of Texas, because when working families are put first, Texas prospers. He’s running to make sure the people of District 35 see results… not in talking points, but in their wallets, their schools, and their neighborhoods.

He believes true public safety means more than tough talk, it means ensuring kids feel safe in school, families can access healthcare, and communities can thrive with affordable housing and economic opportunity. And it means doing the hard work in Washington to renew the American promise for everyone, no matter their background, zip code, or bank account.

I've got other candidates that I'm helping in the general. We have races that are more competitive that need our help. Tony Gonzales' seat has a good chance of flipping. I will be working with Katie Padilla Stout. We also have several flippable state house seats that I will be helping with.

She's running for congress by the way. All she's ever done is protest. If she wins the primary, she will be up against a popular GOP Latino who has served several terms in the state house. This is a seat that Greg Abbott drew to help Trump. A DSA candidate who is a sex therapist cannot win it. Sorry. I can just see the ads.......

I supported Greg Casar, who is DSA. But his seat is progressive. He got moved out of our town by Abbott. And now will represent Austin. I don't think even Greg Casar will support this one, however.

I strongly support several of our city council members who have been endorsed by DSA.
