Would that actually be a good idea? If by "they" we mean the federal government, then let's think twice.

The states, not the Federal government, is responsible for registering voters. We've seen recently Trump's attempt to control voter registration by making the Federal government responsible for creating eligibility lists and controlling vote by mail through the Post Office. Do we really want Trump to be responsible for actually enrolling voters?

I'm not sure, but isn't it possible for a state to automatically enroll voters?
