Negative reaction to truth serum ?

Well we have all been there. I have been going around informing most people I met in the last 14+ years (perhaps redundantly) with painful sincerity 😢 and perfect truth that I am only a poorly educated, mediocre scientist and not Miss Teen South Carolina (though the keen-eyed can be excused for spotting some similarities..hey fuck off..I could beat one POTUS any day in this area. Sadly that actually does boost my confidence). And not a schizophrenic either.

These kinds of things are always painful as you just know with the kind of education system we have that some percentage of the viewing populace sniggering away is really going “There but for the grace of providence go I. And to prove it let me laugh extra loud!”

It is pretty shitty since. I don’t care about the douches, but I do worry about a future with more and more people roughly like me or worse. That is bad for the facets of existence unconnected with image, reputation, appearance etc. Iow most of it.

Anyway, fwiw I would rather be in the Cunk category than with Sarah Palin. Cunk is overall pro-education.

Yeah I should really work on my knowledge so I don’t feel like 50 kinds of shit except in the kind of kakistocracy and creepiverse where one goes, “Well okay..I am definitely better than most of those in office in the US”.

Not that any of that helps much in academic science. At this point I am down to wondering if more of these Darwin Awards candidates exist:

When I look at those toads I feel there is something to be said for me own candid, salt of the earth, homespun wisdom.

I have always been deeply perceptive and had this intuitive arcane knowledge that tells me things like “hey maybe avoid the old creep surrounded by underage girls”.

Are these people stupid, sleazy, creepy or all of the above? I can say confidently that not one scientist known to me when I was an active researcher (prior to Sept 2011) would have ever been anywhere near that creep.

I find the women who associated with this guy particularly baffling. There are women who sometimes are forced to tolerate bosses they loathe and have to keep at arm’s length. My mom had a few bosses like that. I was lucky in largely only having to deal with getting financially ripped off. It is better than creeps. But that changed and I was not surprised by the death of Roe v Wade.

It is nice to be able to go around saying..”Creeeeeps!” Without the chaser “I totally don’t file false allegations!!!” Though whenever I get a whiff of stupid I return to my hostage self still. Well Troy Farah is no better with his grovelling to Musk so there.
