(10,816 posts)I did not know that Artemis II was blasting off, until
yesterday morning when it was on the Chyron for MSNOW.
Artemis II capsule will splash down just west of San Diego, where I currently live.
I very excited to see this, living only 7 miles from the Pacific,
So I'll be able to watch it live from my backyard.
My first landing was Columbia's landing at White Sands.
But, back then, in the late 60's early 70's, we only had 4 channels that had news & no internet.
Growing up near Chicago they were ABC Channel 7 (WLS), CBS channel 2 (WBBM),
NBC Channel 5 (WMAQ) & Independent Channel 9 (WGN).
Apollo was on every channel everyday leading up to Blastoff.
As I remember, when Apollo 11 landed on the moon, every MLB game that was
being played, stopped their game and acknowledged this milestone.
Here is video from Comisky Park, home of the Chicago White Sox,
playing Kansas City Royals when Apollo landed. They exploded Fireworks.
