In reply to the discussion: Here's something that blew my mind - [View all]LSparkle
(12,186 posts)54. I was 11 ... it was "mind: blown" for me
The early images were b&w and fuzzy but then the transmission changed when they got on the lunar surface and it fucking looked as clear as any other news remote feed! Uncle Walter took off his glasses and sighed but with tears of joy not horror (as he had over JFKs passing). My best friends grandmother knitted a blanket as she watched and worked in Moon Walkon one edge so it became known as the Moon Walk blanket.
Yes, the USA was GREAT then. Sadly those days are gone and Ill probably never experience anything like it again.

You do understand why I wouldn't listen to a reporter who claims the moon is 250,000,000 miles from Earth, don't you?

Part of it is that Trmp was trying so hard to fuck over NASA and every other science program that people just didn't

At this point in history, in my view, we really can't afford space entertainment.

While I respect your opinion, we need to channel our scientific resourses more wisely.

I certainly appreciate robotics, but we still need the Human Experience. We are often explorers.
