The felon's regime started this war in violation of the UN Charter's prohibition on the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of another state.
It is a "crime of aggression" under International Criminal Court definitions.
They have struck civilian targets and infrastructure, which are war crimes.
We have a moral obligation to do what we can to condemn and stop the crimes being committed in our name.
Others may have more effective ideas, but here are my suggestions:
Call your U.S. Rep and Senators. Every member of the House and Senate with a conscience must sign on to a joint statement that clearly condemns the crimes being committed in our name.If you can, join forces with a few others and call the scheduler to set up a meeting with staff at the local office.
When you meet resistance from an elected who is otherwise "on your side," point out that if they are incapable of drafting and unifying around a joint statement condemning these crimes against international law and fundamental moral principles, how the hell do they expect us to believe they can unite to usher in meaningful reform like universal health care, a revamped tax system (Sen. Chris Van Hollen's tax relief plan is just a start), and so much more?
If there is a positive response, but push back on feasibility, what are the road blocks and how can we help overcome the barriers? (Is there a resistor that needs targeting? Something else?)
Call on your municipal, county, and/or state government electeds to pass a resolution condemning these crimes.
Basically, call on your electeds to stop tolerating the intolerable in silence.
A single statement from this or that person is NOT enough. The great statements my Senators Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell have made are all well and good, but we need MORE -- a joint statement. We need office holders of conscience to figure out how to join forces in opposition. Joining on a statement or resolution is a first hurdle.
And make sure it is clear that any statement or resolution of condemnation must include condemnation of the war crimes being committed in our name: For example, the U.S. strikes on Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' elementary school and the U.S. strikes on the freshwater desalination plant on Iran's Qeshm Island.
And BTW, there is NO DOUBT that the United States is responsible for the destruction of the Shajareh Tayyebeh girls' elementary school is in Minab, in the Hormozgan province in southern Iran.
An IRGC naval forces compound was in Minab.
This article reports:
The United States acknowledges targeting the IRGC naval forces base in Minab on 2/28/2026. The U.S. is operating warships in the Arabian Sea, including the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, within range of the school and IRGC naval forces compound.
Israel, which has denied conducting the strike, has focused on areas of Iran closer to Israel and hasnt reported any strikes south of Isfahan, 800 kilometers (500 miles) away.
The NYTimes article (link below) compares a satellite image of Minab taken 5/14/2024 with an image taken 3/4/2026. It is clear that structures in the compound AND the school were destroyed.
It is ABSURD to keep denying this war crime. Our military has an obligation to know what was there before they bombed all the structures in and around the IRGC compound.
