In reply to the discussion: Susie Wiles sounds the alarm on gas prices [View all]Aussie105
(7,807 posts)38. Lots of people love a well laid out plan.
But this current situation isn't one of them.
Stock markets around the world hate uncertainty and are bleeding red right now.
Gas prices here have risen from a steady AU $ 1.60 /L to around AU $2.00/L in 3 days.
No idea how that translates to US $/gallon, but it's a clear pattern.
Seeing Australia has, supposedly, 3 or 4 months of gas in reserve, it is just profiteering based on FUD and uncertainty of future supplies from Singapore refineries.
Australia has no crude oil in the ground nor does it have any refineries.
60% of the crude oil to Singapore comes from the Middle East.
Panic buying is happening at the moment.

They still believe in the Marketing Fairy, and that nothing can't be fixed with proper packaging and spin.

It will never *not* be aggravating that the price of gas is what gets the masses' attention.
