who do not understand TX open primaries.
In Texas we walk into the voting room, have our ID inspected, and then are asked "which ballot would you like".
We choose and it locks us in for that primary and any connected run-offs. That's important. Many republicans are going to want the ability to vote in a republican run-off. If they really don't care and decide they want to pick the one who is easier to beat - my theory is that they would've seen Crockett as easier to beat.
A democrat hasn't won a statewide election here since 1994, and if we get a win, I highly doubt it will be with a woman at this point in time. Kamala Harris lost by 5 points, and trailed Trump the entire campaign.
