(9,309 posts)I see/hear someone who would grace the Senate herself. and elevate other Democrats there.
But when I look at Texas, I see a state which leans heavily to tiny-handed misogynists and racists. And some Democrats are also misogynist - quietly - but enough to lose the presidency for us when Hillary ran and again when Kamala ran. We can't afford to keep losing, not so much for the sake of the party, but for the sake of the Constitution. And speaking of the Constitution, it does not require a House representative to live in his or her district - just in the state he/she will represent. Some states have law requiring them to live in their district, and states have the authority to require that. (Mine doesn't, which is why Lauren Boebert did not have to move to run in a safer district.) I don't know what Texas law says on the subject. But if another vacancy opens which she can win, I sincerely hope she will run.
We are not doing BW, or WW for that matter, any favors by nominating them for races they cannot win. As a WW myself, I detest this. But we need to stop pretending that misogyny does not exist, or even that it is less powerful than racism when it is in fact more powerful. If it were not, we would have ratified the ERA decades ago.
