(4,386 posts)Seen it all here before. When Gaza was being decimated following the October 7 Gaza attack on Israel, many Palestinian and Arab voters responded by announcing they would not support Biden. A good number of DUers were lined up to call those voters "stupid" and the like. I didn't believe that pulling support from Biden was a good idea at all, but I also didn't have loved ones who were literally being blown up in the ME. I recall posting in one thread that those "boycotting" Biden were going through trauma and that protesting their emotional position with counter-emotions was unproductive. Someone then responded to me with a comment like "we get it - Jews shouldn't have feelings." There was nothing in the thread or my comments about Jews or Israel. My immediate response... was to think of a response before I decided to let it go because this person too was clearly feeling some trauma and there was nothing I could say to further clarify my point.
At a later time I made a post asking folks not to rush to calling "marginalized" demos names for being skeptical or unhappy with Biden because it came off as arrogant, completely unsympathetic, and unwelcoming. While some responses were positive, there was also considerable pushback. Go figure, at a place that caters to progressive thought.
Gladly, that does not represent the entire community here.
