The Strait of Hormuz is approximately 21 to 24 miles (33–39 km) wide at its narrowest point between Oman and Iran. Despite this width, the navigable shipping lanes for large tankers are only about two miles (3 km) wide in each direction, separated by a two-mile buffer zone.

They don't actually have to attack a single tanker.

All that is required is for maritime insurance companies to not insure those tankers that want to enter the gulf. Reports are now that there are over 100 tankers paused in the Indian ocean waiting to enter but cannot until hostilities end.

Oil will continue to rise in price. Russia, which requires higher oil prices to continue their own war effort ( not to mention their entire economy ), is very pleased with Comrade Krasnov.
