I remember when the radio was scared to play [View all]
"Masters of War" because they knew it was truth and they knew that more and more people were getting wise to the military/industrial game. If they did play songs like this they got major heat from the government and advertisers. Once again the money and greed went after the truth but the truth is still the truth even if people try to keep it from being heard. Here's the 4th verse:
"You fasten all the triggers for the others to fire
Then you set back and watch while the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion while the young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies and is buried in the mud"
Likewise the 4th verse of the PF Sloan song "Eve of Destruction". The powers that be went out of their mind when this verse shoved the truth and their hypocrisy right into their faces:
"Think of all the hate there is in Red China
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space
But when you return, it's the same old place
The poundin' of the drums, the pride and disgrace
You can bury your dead, but don't leave a trace
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don't forget to say grace."
Ozzie on "War Pigs" the 1st and 2nd verses sums it up:
"Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerer of death's construction
In the fields, the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
Poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh, Lord, yeah"
"Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight?
They leave that all to the poor, yeah
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait till their judgment day comes, yeah."
The truth by the poets of our youth. Still the truth today and will be forever. Regardless of the propaganda media the truth will always be written, spoken and sung somewhere in the world and it will always grow and pass down because it is the truth.
